About Atlanta Hawks
The Atlanta Hawks are an American professional basketball team based in Atlanta. The Hawks compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Eastern Conference Southeast Division. The team plays its home games at State Farm Arena.
The Hawks were founded in 1946 as the Tri-Cities Blackhawks in Moline, Illinois. They moved to Milwaukee in 1951 and became the Milwaukee Hawks. In 1955, the team moved to St. Louis and became the St. Louis Hawks. The Hawks moved to Atlanta in 1968.
The Hawks have won one NBA championship, in 1958. They have appeared in the NBA Finals four times, losing each time.
The Hawks have had many great players over the years, including Bob Pettit, Dominique Wilkins, and Trae Young. Pettit won the NBA MVP award in 1955 and 1956.
