About Denver Nuggets
The Denver Nuggets are an American professional basketball team based in Denver. The Nuggets compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Western Conference Northwest Division.
The team was founded as the Denver Larks in 1967 as a charter franchise of the American Basketball Association (ABA). The Larks changed their name to the Rockets before the start of the 1967–68 season. In 1974, the team changed its name to the Nuggets in anticipation of joining the NBA. The Nuggets were one of four ABA teams that joined the NBA in 1976.
The Nuggets have never won an NBA championship, but they have made the playoffs 29 times, including 2022-2023. They have reached the Western Conference Finals twice, in 1977 and 2009.
