Jimmy Butler surprises the Heat with another new hairstyle
The Miami Heat star continues his Media Day trend by showing up with a different hairstyle.
Jimmy Butler wore a new look to media day that immediately caught the eye of the NBA world.
The Miami Heat forward came to the team’s first official workday this season sporting piercings – eye, lip, and nose piercings – as well as a new hairstyle and black-painted fingernails.
For Butler, it’s become something of a trend, as last year he diverged from his usual look for media day by sporting dreadlocks.
“I’m very emotional right now. That’s my emo state, and I like that. That’s me,” Butler said. “That’s how I’ve been feeling lately.”
Teammates, it seemed, were caught a bit off guard. Heat center Bam Adebayo — who hadn’t seen his teammate before meeting with reporters — thought someone had photoshopped something when a reporter showed him photos of Butler’s look for the day.
“That is not real. … That is (expletive) hilarious,” Adebayo said.
It’s unclear if Butler will keep the look when Miami opens practice on Tuesday. The team will hold camp at Florida Atlantic University in nearby Boca Raton.
