About Sacramento Kings
The Sacramento Kings are an American professional basketball team based in Sacramento, California. The Kings compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member club of the association’s Western Conference Pacific Division. The Kings are the oldest team in the NBA, and the first and only team in the major professional North American sports leagues located in Sacramento. The team plays its home games at the Golden 1 Center.
The Kings were founded in 1948 as the Rochester Royals in Rochester, New York. They won their only NBA championship in 1951. In 1972, the Royals moved to Kansas City, Missouri, and were renamed the Kings. The Kings moved to Sacramento in 1985.
The Kings have had a long history of playoff disappointment. They have not won a playoff series since 2004, and they have not made the NBA Finals since 1951. However, the Kings have a young and talented team that is expected to be competitive in the Western Conference in the years to come.
Some of the most famous players to have played for the Kings include Oscar Robertson, Wilt Chamberlain, Rick Barry, Chris Webber, and Vlade Divac.
Here are some of the Kings’ most notable achievements:
- NBA champions (1951)
- 6 division titles (1949, 1952, 1979, 2002, 2003, 2023)
- 18 playoff appearances
- 5 Western Conference Finals appearances
The Kings are a proud franchise with a rich history. They are hoping to finally break through and win a championship in the near future.
